autumn ambers die out into bare branches and broken hopes. fires drowned in all my fears. hoping your feelings don't freeze with our feet. measure memories in snowfalls and phonecalls and the way december always stays so cold. the stars will always shine your way home after cold nights in open fields. and you'll sneak away with the heart you tried to steal but secretly i let you have it. hold it. i hope it wont break and maybe someday we'll watch the sky all night. and carve hearts around our names in some park. held hands and "the best i can" never meant so much. your heart beat stronger through the streets and i never thought you'd hear me. i watched my breath rise from these cold suburban nights and prayed for july. the stars will always shine your way home after cold nights in open fields. and you'll sneak away with the heart you tried to steal but secretly i let you have. hold it. i hope it wont break. and maybe someday we'll watch the sky all night.
